End It vocalist Akil Godsey appears to have gotten a new tattoo suggesting the ‘treaty’ he forged with banana men the world over may not have been as genuine as some have suspected. By now you likely know the story. This past June during a Toronto, ON show, Godsey and his bandmates called on the audience to tear apart the banana costume of a concertgoer in the crowd. Godsey offered up the setlist to whoever did it, with various members pouncing upon their banana-clad man, tearing his costume to shreds.
At the time Godsey warned him from the audience, stating in part, “he wanted the attention, and now he has it.” The man in question however, argued that he wasn’t even a fan of End It and was there instead to catch Terror, who were headlining the event. He further went on to reveal that he had a lengthy history of attending concerts in a banana series, and that the band offered him no apology.
The whole incident drew mixed reactions, with some voicing their support, while others condemned Akil and End It for seemingly weaponizing the crowd over what someone wore. With the controversy rising and apparent touring opportunities being revoked amid the controversy, End It eventually buried the hatchet with a banana man onstage during a European festival show in late June. However, it wasn’t the same concertgoer that was originally targeted by Godsey. The latter would go on to proclaim the onstage hug of that banana-clad fan, “The Great Banana Treaty of Ysselsteyn.”
Now Godsey has newly revealed his latest tattoo, which might as well be the equivalent of the Ghostbusters logo for banana men. As of press time, you can find that via his Instagram story.
